The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023 HBA Family Scholarship.  All HBA Family Scholarship winners will receive $1000 from the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County’s Charitable Foundation to be used toward their education for the 2023-2024 school year.

Family Scholarship recipients must be the child or grandchild of a current HBA member, a graduating high school senior, in need of financial aid, planning to attend a public college or university in North Carolina full time beginning in the fall semester 2023, and have shown leadership capabilities in their school and/or community.

In addition to the Family Scholarship Winners, the Charitable Foundation also gives out $10,000 in scholarships per year to Wake Tech students who are studying in homebuilding-related fields.

In addition to her academic success, she’s worked part time as a Party Princess and Superhero performer, participated in the Red Hat Shelton Leadership Challenge, and the Thales College Business Institute’s mentorship program.

Janae Carter, daughter of LaDonna Carter (DR Horton), lives in Holly Springs, NC.
Janae has a 4.3 GPA at Holly Springs High School and has been accepted to The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for the Fall of 2023.  Janae is extremely active in extracurriculars at her school, including advanced choir, cheer team, and National Honor Society. She founded the school’s Cooking Club and served as its President, and also severed as the Vice President of the Music Appreciation Club. While being so involved in clubs keeps her busy, she’s also held part-time jobs during her high school career, working at Sheetz, Marshalls, and Club Pilates. At UNC-CH, she plans to major in business and marketing, with the intention of becoming an entertainment lawyer.

Jasmine Roberson, daughter of Ashley Roberson (Zonda), lives in Wake Forest, NC.
Jasmine has a 3.4 GPA at North Raleigh Christian Academy and plans to attend Wake Technical Community College in the fall, with a transfer to UNC Charlotte later. She intends to major in Criminal Justice or Paralegal Technology and Prelaw to reach her goal of becoming a lawyer. Outside of school, Jasmine has worked part-time for J. Roberson HVAC, and put in time as a babysitter and nanny. At school, she’s active as the Varsity Volleyball team captain, and has won the Spanish Award. She’s described by staff at the school as a leader who has chosen to lead her classmates at school events, such as basketball games and Christmas tree lightings, and the type of student any teacher wants to have.

Cameron Williams, daughter of Michael Williams (Tallen Homes), lives in Holly Springs, NC.
Cameron has a 4.33 GPA at Holly Springs High School and has been accepted to North Carolina State University for the Fall of 2023. She has a head start with her work as a kennel technician at the Biscuit Garden. As a member of the National Honor Society, Environmental Club, and Secretary of the National Social Studies Honor Society, Cameron has balanced out her extracurriculars with travel softball, becoming a All District Player and winning the Golden Hawk Award for her resilience through adversity, development throughout the season, and good character in a competitive environment.
