2022 HBA Hall of Fame Inductions Announced

Raleigh, N.C. – During the Home Builders Association of Raleigh – Wake County (HBA) annual Installation and Hall of Fame Ceremony on December 15 at Upchurch Farm in Cary, Jim Derrickson was installed as the 2023 President.

“We are the second largest local home builders association in the country and engagement is key,” said Derrickson. “Whether you’re a custom builder building a few homes a year or a corporate builder building hundreds of homes, we encourage all our members to be engaged in all our programs.” 

In addition, the annual installation event inducts worthy recipients into the HBA Hall of Fame. The HBA created the Hall of Fame to recognize positive and/or significant contribution(s) a member nominee has made to the housing industry in Wake County and within the association. This may include services to both the housing area and community; awards received; noteworthy projects performed; and/or vision, creativity, and innovations that can attributed to an individual and have a lasting influence on the housing industry.

For 2022, Don Fraley, Sr (posthumously), of M/I Homes, Richard Gaylord, of Richard Gaylord Homes, and Rob Weintraub of  Neighborhood Amenity Development were selected by the HBA Board of Directors and presented with the Hall of Fame medal.

About Jim Derrickson
Jim Derrickson is Senior Vice President at First Bank in Builder Finance with a focus on locally owned home builder companies. Jim started his career in the early eighties and is proud to say he has been lending to the home building industry for a majority of that time.

His primary focus in the HBA of Raleigh - Wake County has been to protect the integrity of the local home building industry by being active in the political/entitlement arena. During his involvement, he has been engaged in most of the candidate discernment processes and has served as Build-Pac Chair.

Jim has been a member of the Board of Directors for over 22 years. He has served three terms as Treasurer. He was awarded the Rookie of the Year in 1997, Outstanding Associate of the Year in 2000, and has won Presidential Awards in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2015,2017, 2021 and 2022.

In addition to his involvement with the HBA, he serves on the Board of the Magellan Charter School Foundation.
