The 2025 HBA Family Scholarship Recipients received their certificates at the Board of Directors meeting on April 28th. The students alongside their families were also surprised to find out that instead of the $1,000 scholarship they would be awarded $2,500 from the HBA's Charitable Foundation. Also present at the board meeting were some of the Wake Tech Foundation Scholarship recipients. Your HBA is proud to support our members and our community through efforts of the Charitable Foundation like this. Brant Bundschu, step-son of Michael Procopio of ProCo Coatings, lives in Apex, N.C.
Brant has a 3.82 GPA at Green Level High School and has been accepted to several North Carolina Universities included UNC Charlotte and Appalachian State. He plans to select a school and attend in the fall of 2025 to study Business Administration with an ultimate goal of working in a housing related field. Brant is a part of the Varsity Baseball team, works for Chick-Fil-A, and participates in the Chick-Fil- A Leadership club. He enjoys hands on work that support his community and has volunteered with Aetna in his free time as well. His school counselor describes Brant as respectful, kind, and recommended him for the scholarship with enthusiasm.
Elle Sandine, daughter of Kristina Sandine of The Jim Allen Group New Homes, lives in Knightdale, N.C.
Elle has a 3.8 GPA at Longleaf School of the Arts and has been accepted to Savannah College of Art & Design. Elle plans to major in illustration and sequential art. She would like to be a concept artist and create characters for video games and movies. Elle also is a jewelry designer and participates in many craft fairs to share and sell her creations. Elle works with a local rescue mission to create care packets for the homeless and also has volunteered over 40 hours recently to many organizations including a local ‘Save the Bees’ group making hives. Along with her personal business Elle has been an intern with the Jim Allen Group marketing team. Elle’s Visual Arts Teacher describes her as dedicated, passionate about her craft, and a stand out student.
Claire Buckner, daughter of Ellen Buckner of Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., lives in Clayton, N.C.
Claire has a 4.45 GPA at Clayton High School and plans to attend North Carolina State University to study Textile Technology. Claire has been a part of her school’s volleyball team, including team captain and contributed to an undefeated season in 2023-2024. She is in the National Honor Society and is also a Junior Marshall at her school. In her spare time, she works at Anthony’s Pizza and Marcos Pizza while also being a head coach at Clayton Parks and Rec for boys and girls volleyball. With her studies at the Wilson College of Textiles, Claire is looking to help future athletes by developing textile products that can give improved performance and help with injury prevention. Claire’s math teacher describes her as kind and personable- making friends easily and always willing to help others.
